Technical requirements:
A .prfpset file is a proprietary Adobe format containing effect settings and keyframes. It is crucial to understand that you cannot directly open or edit the code of a .prfpset file outside of Premiere Pro.
However, you can completely customize the effect once it is applied to your clips. Here is the standard workflow in Premiere Pro to personalize any downloaded transition preset:
Location: Navigate to the Effects panel, open the Presets folder, and locate the transition you imported.
Action: Drag and drop the preset onto an Adjustment Layer (or directly onto your clip) following the creator’s instructions.
Control Panel: Select the Adjustment Layer (or clip) where the transition is applied.
Effect Controls: Go to the Effect Controls panel. This is where you will see all the effects (such as Scale, Position, Fast Blur, Opacity, etc.) that constitute the transition preset.
Editing:
Change Values: Adjust parameters like Position, Scale, Rotation, or the intensity of a Directional Blur to make the transition smoother or more aggressive.
Adjust Keyframes: Smooth transitions rely on Keyframes. You can move, delete, or change the interpolation of these keyframes (e.g., from Linear to Ease In/Out or Bezier) to fine-tune the timing and motion curve.
In the Effect Controls panel, select all the effects you modified (hold Ctrl or Cmd and click).
Right-click on the selected effects.
Choose Save Preset….
Give it a new name (e.g., My Custom Zoom Transition) and select the appropriate Type.
Important Note: A Transition Preset (
.prfpset) is simply a saved collection of effects. All customization must always be done on the Timeline within the Effect Controls panel, not on the original.prfpsetfile itself.
